We showed our support for a South Yorkshire children’s hospice by sponsoring the charity's award-winning Soapbox Derby.
John Holland sponsored the start and finish lines of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice’s Soapbox Derby at Clifton Park, Rotherham – an event which recently won the Best Use of Events award at the National Fundraising Awards.
Our dealership, which was recently highly commended at the Motor Trader Magazine Industry Awards, displayed three of its finest supercars at the all-action event, which saw competitors speed down a 450-metre course peppered with obstacles in their home-made soapboxes.
Mark Holland, managing director of John Holland, said: “We were absolutely delighted to sponsor Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice’s Soapbox Derby this year – this is just one of the many exciting Bluebell Wood events we’re grateful to have been a part of recently.
“We were very proud to display three of our supercars – including our very own John Holland-branded Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG – at this year’s event, which raised so much money for a brilliant cause.
“It was also great to see so many wacky and wonderful designs come down the hill at Clifton Park – many congratulations to the winning team!”
Jo Berry, Events Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “We’re really grateful to John Holland for their sponsorship of this year’s Soapbox Derby – we’re proud to have worked with the dealership for several of our major events in recent months.
“To see so many people turn out for our Soapbox Derby was great; it was a fantastic day, and helped raise much needed funds for children with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions; and their families.”
