We’d like to introduce you to six-year-old Harrison Parker.
On first observation, it would be easy to think that he was a perfectly healthy boy. But Harrison was born with a congenital heart disease known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS).
The condition has led to the left lower pumping chamber of Harrison’s heart not developing properly, meaning the heart is unable to pump blood around the body effectively.
He also has other heart conditions, including an unbalanced AVSD Bilateral SVCs and a Systolic Murmur, which further impact on his health.
To prolong and give him a better quality of life, Harrison has undergone three open heart surgeries - the last of them in November 2013.
Currently his life expectancy is unknown, but the valve inside the only half of heart that he has got is deteriorating quicker than anticipated.
Despite his condition, Harrison always has a smile on his face and never lets this get him down.
Harrison, who is from Killamarsh, lit up our showroom when he visited recently and this is when we became aware of a bucket list which he has handwritten.
The list contains very simple things such as a day at the zoo, riding a horse, driving a digger, an ice hockey match and meeting Sheffield United mascot Captain Blade, as well as ‘lots of fun things.’
You'll see his handwritten note to the right hand side (if you're on a desktop device) or at the bottom of the page (if you're on a mobile device).
Harrison will get the chance to tick off one of the items on his list this weekend after he was invited by Sheffield United to be their mascot, allowing him to meet his footballing heroes and Captain Blade.
We know how powerful social media can be, so we’re asking people and businesses from around the region to get in touch if they feel they can help some of Harrison’s dreams come true.
