Cash raised for mouth cancer charity at dental winter ball

More than £2,000 was raised for a mouth cancer charity by leading lights from the dental sector at an annual winter ball.

The Dental Charity Winter Ball, which first started last year, was held at the Mercure Hotel Sheffield St. Paul’s, and raised £2,027 for the Mouth Cancer Foundation. It was supported by a number of leading dental clinics, agencies and laboratories.

We also sponsored the event by providing a drinks reception, and supplied a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG for display.

Sheffield-based S4S Dental Laboratory was one of the main sponsors, which also included dental firms 4 Health and One 80 Dental.

Benefitting charity The Mouth Cancer Foundation was established in June 2004. It is a professional support organisation dedicated to supporting people with mouth, throat and other head and neck cancer.

The event featured a speech from mouth cancer survivor Rachel Parsons, who took to the stage alongside Mouth Cancer Foundation consultant Nikki Rowland to share the moving story of her battle with the illness.

Matt Everatt, Technical Director of S4S Dental Ltd, said: “I’m immensely proud of how successful the 2016 Dental Charity Ball was, following a great inaugural ball in 2015.

“We’re extremely grateful to all of our sponsors, as they made this event possible – not least John Holland, who played a major part in the success of this year’s event.

“We’re already underway with planning next year’s event – it’ll certainly be tough to top this year’s! Save the date of 24 November 2017 at St Paul’s Mercure Sheffield.”

Mark Holland, our Managing Director, said: “It was great to be a part of the ball, and it’s brilliant to hear of how much was raised.

“We’re now looking forward to next year’s event, where we will be again providing a drinks reception and displaying a prestige car.”
